# Layer 2: Secure Enclaves (Hardware)

We utilize **Intel SGX (Software Guard Extensions)** to create a "Black Box" environment.

* **Memory Isolation:** Key shares are decrypted only within the CPU enclave. Even if a hacker gains root access to the server OS, the memory space within the enclave remains encrypted and unreadable.
* **Insider Threat Protection:** Because the execution occurs in a Trusted Execution Environment (TEE), not even Keystone engineers can extract key material or API credentials.
